After six weeks, you should be feeding a suitable grower feed, which should have at least 20 percent protein (higher than that required for chickens). Birds being reared for the table can remain on this ration continually.

At ECAF, our Turkey Grower/Finisher (20% PROTEIN) is specially formulated to follow the starter diet, encouraging continued growth and feathering. Soya is included with balanced mineral levels and vitamins which aid the development of good bone strength and quality which is essential.

Turkeys typically grow to slaughter size within six months. For an average tom, you will feed him approximately 100 pounds of feed, and for a hen, 60 pounds.

You will need to make sure the turkeys have access to coarse sand or fine gravel – the grit that they need to digest their food. Most likely they can find this right on the ground mixed with the soil.
